Days Of Ever

How does jewellery transcend mere embellishment, and become a medium for storytelling? By designing it with intention, of course. For Rui, founder of jewellery label Days of Ever, each piece begins with the desire to capture a moment, however fleeting or intangible it may be. Couple this with her training in spatial design, and what results is a series of wearable objects, each one as timeless and as meaningful as a cherished memory.

We speak with Rui to find out more about her journey to Days of Ever, her approach to designing jewellery, and the beauty of collaboration.

[start:#808080]TELL US ABOUT YOURSELF. HOW DID YOUR JOURNEY LEAD TO JEWELLERY AND THE CREATION OF DAYS OF EVER?[end:#808080]

My background is in spatial design, where I explored how space, materiality, and form shape experiences. But beyond spaces, I’ve always been drawn to objects, art, and sculpture—collecting pieces that held personal meaning. Over time, I realised my emotional connection to objects and my love for form naturally extended to jewellery. It felt like a smaller, more intimate exploration of the same principles I valued in design.

Days of Ever was born from a desire to create, not just curate. What began as a passion project collecting jewellery and objects evolved into a deeper pursuit of design. A sabbatical gave me the space to reflect, and I saw jewellery as the perfect medium—deeply tied to my design roots yet offering a new sense of creative freedom.

[start:#808080]DO YOU THINK YOUR DESIGN PRACTICE INFORMS YOUR CRAFT AT DAYS OF EVER? HOW SO? [end:#808080]

There’s a natural continuity between spatial design and jewellery—both extend beyond aesthetics to how form is experienced. I approach jewellery much like I would a space or an object, with attention to structure, geometry, and the way light interacts with it. Movement and versatility also play a role, as seen in the Tear Drop piece, designed with a detachable structure to transition seamlessly from day to night.

However, the shift in scale changes the approach. In spatial design, details operate at an architectural level, while in jewellery, every curve and edge is amplified at a much more intimate scale. The process also differs—spatial design often begins with problem-solving for a client, whereas jewellery design is a more personal and intuitive exploration. It’s less about function and more about emotion, allowing me to create from a place of instinct rather than necessity.

[start:#808080] WHAT SPARKS THE DESIGN OF A NEW PIECE OR COLLECTION? [end:#808080]

I usually draw inspiration from personal experiences, a feeling, a place I’ve been or even a gesture, because these are the things that leave a lasting imprint on me. I think of a memory I want to capture and let it take shape organically. Sometimes they are rooted in something tangible, an object or form. Other times, it’s more abstract, and is about translating an emotion or feeling into a visual language.

[start:#808080] ARE THERE CERTAIN QUALITIES YOU FEEL ARE SHARED BETWEEN DAYS OF EVER'S PIECES AND IGC'S CREATION? HOW DO YOU SEE THEM COMPLEMENTING ONE ANOTHER? [end:#808080]

I think both Days of Ever and IGC share an appreciation for subtlety. It’s never about loud statements, but the quiet details. The kind that reveal themselves over time rather than demanding attention immediately. There’s a shared philosophy of simplicity and timelessness—not just in appearance but in construction.

There are endless ways to create an object, but elegance comes from intent. What is concealed, what is revealed. Choices like that define each piece. This is where both brands align: in creating pieces that feel effortless, but are deeply considered, designed to move with the wearer and complement rather than overpower.

[start:#808080]WHAT, TO YOU, MAKES A COLLABORATION MEANINGFUL? [end:#808080]

When it feels authentic and personal. A collaboration to me is not just brands or individuals coming together to create something interesting; it’s about the exchange, interactions and layers behind it.

For example, with my first collection, I had the chance to reconnect with an old friend, Rachel, who was behind the lens for my campaign shoot. That personal connection added depth to the project, making it more than just a creative endeavour. It became a shared experience, a dialogue, a moment captured through both jewellery and imagery. I love when collaborations inspire fresh perspectives and growth. What makes them truly special is when they carry meaning beyond just the final product, when they become part of a larger story. That’s when everything comes full circle.
